Veteran dual-sport rider Jim Key put the BMW HP2 through the paces west of Denver, Colorado in the rugged Rocky Mountains. Just looking at this bike brings a smile, but it grows to an uncontrollable grin if you're an experienced GS rider. When you can compare thousands of miles spent on one or more of the HP2's adventure touring sisters, you really appreciate the personality of this bike.
The HP2 eats rough terrain, delivering the latest expression of the Boxer concept with its low center of gravity. As Jim experienced on his first jaunt, he had as much fun on pavement heading to lunch as in the scrub oak served up for breakfast. Nimble and versatile handling, low weight, and high-performance were mandates of the BMW design team.
With 105 horsepower, the HP2 is the most powerful and advanced Boxer to ever leave it's mark on the trail.
